Overview
Alan Nawoj (San Diego, California) is excited to represent the USA in the 2025 World Marathon Challenge (WMC) aka "777", an extraordinary endurance competition that takes runners around the globe to each of the 7 continents in 7 consecutive days to run a full (26.2 mile) marathon on each continent.

Considered one of most difficult endurance races on the planet, runners must complete 183.4 miles of running while traveling over 40,000 kilometers across numerous time zones in weather conditions ranging from extremely cold and windy to very hot and humid over the course of the week. Most of the recovery time from each marathon will take place on the plane while traveling from one continent to the next.

This will be the 10th anniversary year of the WMC and will feature a full-field of 62 runners from 20 different countries. Click here to view a complete list of the 2025 competitors. To date, less than 200 runners have successfully completed the 777 challenge.
777 Event Details Prior to the first marathon in Antarctica, all WMC competitors will meet in Cape Town, South Africa, for pre-race briefings before heading to Antarctica together to begin the first of seven marathons. Due to the incredible logistical challenges involved, deviations from the scheduled dates may occur although the expected date of the final (seventh) marathon on Miami South Beach in Florida is targeted for Thursday, February 6, 2025. Please also note that marathons at various locations will take place overnight (local times) to ensure the event stays on schedule. Course locations and estimated dates and times are listed below.

Flight Tracking

Antarctica Cargo Charter Tracking (CPT > QAO > CPT) - Click here for flight status. Runners will fly due south from Cape Town to East Antarctica and land on the blue ice runway at Novo Air Base in Queen Maud Land on a Russian strategic airlifter modified cargo plane called the Ilyushin Il-76TD-90VD operated by Volga-Dnepr Airlines. Once the aircraft leaves South African radar, the tracking map will likely not be updated due to lack of radar in Antarctica.

Boeing 767 Charter Tracking (CPT > PER > DWC > MAD > FOR > MIA) - Click here for flight status. The charter flight number Omni Air # 2575 for tail number N441AX is being assigned to the entire journey around the globe from Cape Town to Miami. This is the New England Patriots' private jet.

30 Jan 2025 - 7:59 pm PST (2 months ago) - At the Cape Town airport and going through Antarctica check-in procedures as we speak… almost 6am here and we are scheduled to touch down at Novo Ice Runway at 11:45am UTC… marathon tentatively scheduled to start at 1:30pm UTC. It’s a 6 hour flight straight south after we take off from Cape Town… going to be really loud inside the cargo plane so we’re getting earplugs ;).

It’s summertime down here and quite hot… 87 degrees at the moment. If it stays this way till the weekend, marathon # 2 (Africa) is going to be tough!

26 Jan 2025 - 3:38 pm PST (2 months ago) - It’s departure day! The journey begins… from now until I get back home, I’ll be in the air for over 91 hours on planes and will cross over 16 time zones. Next time I touch US soil will be in Miami for marathon number 7!
